Introduction:

Hello everyone, we are students from Pokhara, Nepal working for the preservation of child rights forming circle 7, KEFIAN-12, from KEF higher secondary school from class 6, 7, 8, 9.
We have decided to work in our community to promote child rights regarding love and care. Every child should be loved and nourished properly from birth to 18 years old. Children are soft hearted and the future depends on the love and care they got. Then only they can change the world with shining light at peace and prosperity.

We are showing the drawing of a baby with the navel connected with the navel cord and there is we have shown the most important child rights. First, it represents nutrition for a child for their well health and after that it shows health care to be safe from diseases. After that is shows education to make their future and at last a source of entertainment. The most important thing is love and care which is shown by the navel cord in the shape of love.

Contributions Challenge 1:

We discussed about having a safe home and this is our opinion

As we al all know every child has right to enjoy their child rights. Shelter (home) is the basic needs of human. A safe home is required to be safe from different natural hazards.

Children need a safe home for the following things:

-          To be safe from different natural factors like earthquake

-          To get proper care, love and affection from the family members

We can maintain a safe home by the following things:

-          Home should be physically strong so it is not destroyed by natural hazards

-          Mutual understanding should be maintained among family members

-          Political stability should be made and politicians should consider child rights

-          Government should make safe houses for the victims of earthquake who got homeless so they can feel safe .

-          Children should get proper care and freedom to share their feelings in their home

In this picture there is a war going on. People are scared and running here and there. Due to the war, the houses are destroyed and the school too. One of the man is saving another man from the fire. Natural beauty of this place is destroyed and people don't have safe homes and places to live.

Feedback from: University of Toronto Schools

Your class has created an interesting distinction between needing a safe home, and secondly the requirements for maintenance of a safe home. It is great that the class has focused in on the requirements needed to maintain a safe home as this can be easily overlooked when looking at this issues. All too often, development projects focus solely on building infrastructure without a long term plan for after effects of the development.

Great work KEF!

Feedback from: Cleardale Public School

We really liked your description of what a safe home is because you don't just talk about a safe physical home, you talk about families and politics and how they play a huge role in safety.

You have posted excellent details on how a child can have a safe home.  Your picture fits very well with the details and really supports what you have written.

Nice work!!

Feedback from Carmel College Salland:

  • Nice drawings.

  • Good description about the children rights.

  • More pictures.

  • There isn’t much about you.

Contributions Challenge 2:

We did more assignments then one because we are with a lot of people.

First the letter to Urmilla
Dear Urmila,

We are the students of circle 7. We are very glad to talk with you. We have gained many things from your fight.
We could know about your fight against kamalari system. We could know about your tolerance during the time you suffered from the kamalari system. From you and your difficult journey, we learn that we should be brave, we shouldn't lose our hope and we should have patience. We learn that we should fight when there is something happening bad. We learn to fight for our right.

It is good to see you fighting like this. We are also inspired by you. You did the great work of changing your own destiny into a reality which really was impossible in the society like ours. How did you get such courage to fight for your right? How did you convince other girls and women to be a part of your journey? Are you feeling better in this new life? How are you proceeding in the present?

I hope you will reply our letter and we also want your opinion about this letter. Wish you all the best for your coming days.

Your well wishes,

Circle 7

Next is the research of checking our belongings
When we went through the global teenager project, we came to know about the fields that restricts child rights mainly industry like clothes making, hotel/restaurant and mines violate child rights.

In order to check if the children are used in making the bread we eat, cloth we wear or food we eat, we make a plan to visit such places. By the data and information we obtain, we know that last five years, children are completely abandoned for working such place.  Though we have law. we can't completely forbid such system.

The cheese, butter, mom, jeans, shirts and home appliances we ear and wear are made by children like us. Mainly, Taradevi acadamy, sagar noodles industries, keshav real juice, suraj jeans and fitting. These industries in our local surroundings are still using children in order to make more profit through them.
I hope, this could be a chance to free such children from their rooted evil of labor, dominantly. We hope to do better and to bring effective change in the life we gain.

'Education is not what we learn, but it is what we can do to change this world as all the children want'.

Below you see a picture of a child working in a hotel

At last our design for the perfect school:

Here we want to share our feeling about our future school. It should be silent, free from the any sort of noise which disturbs. It should be more practical than theoretical learning that we used to have now. Our school should be full of green and beautiful gardens. We should feel that we are learning globally and practically in a natural environment. The buildings should be separate for different levels with the availability at each and every facilities. You can see this in the picture below:

In this school, we have a perfect classroom. Our perfect classroom is clean, fresh and quiet. We want no more bag carrying full of heavy books and copies. We want our classroom to be technically equipped with: laptops instead of bags and books and advanced touch screen board instead of blackboards or white boards. This makes our learning advanced and global. In the picture below we are showing our perfect classroom:

Completion:

Dear Jury,

We are the members of wiki learning circle. It’s our pleasure to attend such a great global project about children’s right. We have got 12 members in our group. Members of our group are: Nabaraj, Ujjwal, Kriston, Bhum, Pritam, Anish, Nakash, Animesh, Prakarti, Suhana, Aiya and Samrachana. We are from grad 7, 8, 9 and 10.

We have gained lots of knowledge from this project. We learned through practical and empiricism. Miss Naniti is doning a great job for all the children. We are grateful to her as she sacrificed her personal time for the learning circle class. We learned that child right is the subject of concern to everyone who live in society and steps required should be taken in time to upgrade the status of children.

Through assignment, we are able to know and communicate with Urmila and to know about the Kamalari system. We also learn that how children are in the society, national level in Nepal and the world. We have found that about 3 million children’s right is exploited in Nepal.

We learned that a safe home is not only the home which saves us from different weather factors such as rainfall, temperature, storms etc, safe home is the home where there is love, affection and mutual understanding and equal and proper care for all the family members. We have learned that child labour is bad social evil. Children should not be engaged in hard and risky work. Children should be given enough opportunity to express their feelings, opinions etc. without any compulsion. Children are the future nation builders. They should be provided with good education facility which leads them from darkness to brightness.

We did different assignments which increased our creativity and groupism and unity feeling among our friends. We learned about the condition of children in different countries like Syria and Ghana. We have learned about kamalari system another bad evil which is in practise in the Terai region of Nepal. We have learned about the different important child rights. GTP inspires us to learn about the child rights that are essential for proper development of child and ways to preserve child rights. It created the feeling of unity and helping the helpless children all over the world. We are so thankful to GTP to make us part of their wonderful journey.

We think that we all children should get united for the preservation and promotion of child rights. We should encourage government for amending the constitution about child rights. We must work in group for the betterment of child rights and children which are the future nation builders of the country.

At last, child rights are to be protected by everyone and everyone subjected to child rights should discharge their responsibilities. Then only, we can create the world of freedom and child friendly environment. Let’s get united for the child and child rights!

Sincerely yours,
circle 7
